Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, known for movies like Gangs of Wasseypur and Dev D, recently made a shocking declaration about moving out of Mumbai and the Hindi film industry. Expressing his discontent, Kashyap stated that the joy of filmmaking has been sucked out. During a recent interview, he also said that he is disgusted and disappointed with the Hindi film industry for which he has made such a decision.

Kashyap, who wowed moviegoers with his powerful performance in Maharaja, alongside Vijay Sethupathi, stated that he is planning to relocate to the South of India.

During his recent interview with Hollywood Reporter, Kashyap said, “I envy them (South filmmakers). Because now, it's difficult for me to go out and experiment. Because now, it comes at a cost. Which makes my producers think about profit. They're like, ‘Where are my margins? I’m losing money.' I'm like, ‘You don’t want to make this movie? Don't make this movie. But I just cannot.' Because right from the beginning, before the film starts, it becomes about ‘how do we sell it?’ So the joy of filmmaking is sucked out. That's why I want to move out. Literally, next year, I'm moving out of Mumbai."

Further, he also blamed the talent management agencies for setting the wrong trends by pushing aspiring actors to become stars rather than having them focus on becoming better actors. Moreover, he also accused these agencies of exploiting young actors for profit and abandoning them when they fail to deliver.

Furthermore, Kashyap also revealed that the reason he wants to relocate to the South is because he craves 'stimulation'.

Quoting the example of Chidambaram S. Poduval's blockbuster Malayalam survival thriller Manjummel Boys, he said that such a film can never be made in Hindi, but as soon as it becomes a hit in Malayalam, a Bollywood producer would acquire the remake rights. He also referred Allu Arjun's Pushpa.

"They cannot because they don't have the brains to make a film. They don't understand what filmmaking is. A Pushpa is made by a Sukumar. If you go down South, they invest in a filmmaker and empower them to make a film," said Kashyap.

He also added, "Here (Bollywood), everyone is trying to create a formula. They think if one thing works, everyone is trying to create a universe. I don't understand. Do you understand your own universe you live in? How minuscule you are? That's the ego. Since you're creating a universe, you think you're God. That's the arrogance.”
