Citadel: Honey Bunny

The Indian spinoff of Amazon Prime Video's Citadel Spyverse, Citadel: Honey Bunny, has finally begun streaming today. The series follows the story of an estranged spy couple, Honey and Bunny, played by Samantha and Varun Dhawan, who reunite to protect their daughter, Nadia (the young version of Priyanka Chopra’s character in the franchise), after their dangerous past catches up with them.

Here is a review of the third and fourth episodes of this much-awaited series:

In episodes 3 and 4, this exotic action-adventure bounces back and forth between Bucharest, Bombay, and Nainital.

In episode three, Bunny narrowly misses meeting Honey and Nadia. Fearing the worst and left with no choice, he and Chacko turn to their old buddy, Ludo, for help. Meanwhile, in the past, Honey recalls how she joined the spy team and embarked on the agency’s most important mission in Belgrade. However, she makes a shocking discovery that leads her to question whether they were doing the right thing.

In episode four, the name of Citadel is finally revealed — the organization against which Honey and Bunny’s mentor, Vishwa (Kay Kay Menon), works. In 1992, Honey struggles to balance her personal feelings and love for Bunny with her duty to the mission, facing a profound inner conflict when she sees Bunny kill an innocent person. Later, in the 2000s, Honey encounters a similar dilemma when she returns to her childhood home for refuge, a place she had left behind to pursue her life. On the other hand, Bunny, along with his friends Chako and Ludo, uncovers crucial information about Vishwa and the Foundation’s motives.

Overall, episodes 3 and 4 feature spine-chilling action sequences, including intense hand-to-hand combat scenes from Samantha, who performs them with ease and without flinching. Varun also impresses with his performance. Kay Kay Menon, as the elusive head of the Foundation, is equally captivating. Sikander Kher, Sohum Mukerjee, and Shivankit Singh Parihar also deliver solid performances in their respective roles.
