After a series of speculations, what came as a massive shocker for fans was when Dharma Productions confirmed recasting Kartik Aaryan in Dostana 2. Not only removing Kartik as a lead, the production house has reportedly even banned him for lifetime. While many claimed numerous different reasons behind this big decision, the latest buzz suggests it was due to Janhvi Kapoor.
Most fans are aware that Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor had became best of friends last year and even took a trip to Goa together. Their bond seemed so tight that romance rumours between the two also started doing rounds. However, the two soon had a fallout and the friends turned into foes within no time. The gen-next diva even reportedly had cut all the ties with Kartik. This affected the Punchnama baby so much that the he suggested Dostana 2 director Collin D’Cunha to scrap the film.
Later the Love Aaj Kal actor demanded that he is ready to continue the film if Janhvi is removed. As per TOI reports, Kartik was even ready to adjust his Dostana 2 fees if Karan Johar makes another film with him. In the end, Karan had to choose sides and he decided to drop Aaryan from the film and reshoot even if meant incurring huge losses.

Currently, the makers are busy finding the replacement of Kartik Aaryan as the lead in Dostana 2. Names that have cropped up regarding the recasting are in the likes of Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra and Rajkummar Rao.
