Fawad Khan
Pakistani actor Fawad Khan has found himself at the center of a heated controversy following his recent remarks after India’s successful ‘Operation Sindoor’—a counter-terrorism operation by India after the horrific Pahalgam terrorist attack backed by Pakistan that saw the massacre of 26 innocent Indian tourists.
The actor, widely known for his performances in dramas like Humsafar, Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Bollywood films such as Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Khoobsurat and Kapoor & Sons, was brutally slammed online for attacking India through his social media comments.
Fawad, in an Instagram story, expressed condolences over the incident and termed India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ a shameful attack. However, what sparked outrage was his apparent silence following the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Many Indian social media users and fans accused the actor of hypocrisy and anti-Indian, highlighting that while he condemned one act, he refrained from criticizing Pakistan-based perpetrators responsible for the Pahalgam massacre.
“This is Fawad Khan, supporting his terrorist state, Pakistan. Yet, Bollywood wants him to come, act, earn, and then use the same money to fund terror activities against India. Bollywood is the half-brother of Pakistan,” shared a user.
Likewise, another user shared, “Felt like puking after seeing Fawad Khan's statement.”
“Fawad Khan is still trying to write a draft condemning Indian attack against Pakistan, but unable to come up with words like he did in condemning the Pahlgam Attack,” shared another user.
Fawad Khan’s upcoming Bollywood project Abir Gulaal with actress Vaani Kapoor has reportedly been put on hold following the backlash.
Meanwhile, netizens have questioned Bollywood's silence in the face of Fawad’s comments.
As tensions mount, it remains to be seen whether the entertainment industry will distance itself from Fawad Khan or continue the engagement, hurting public sentiment.
