Best South movies of 2023 that rocked box office: Know where to watch them on OTT now

The South Indian movies are enjoying a very good time after the coronavirus pandemic lockdown was lifted. From Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise and Rajamouli’s RRR to Thalapathy Vijay’s Beast, the Southern movies have left the audience across pan India hooked.

Here are some of the best South movies of 2023 that created a lot of excitement and now most of them are available on the OTT platform.

Varisu (January 11, 2023)- Prime Video

Directed by National Award winner Vaashi Paidipally, Varisu released in Tamil and titled Vaarasudu in Telugu was a bilingual flick and became one of the biggest South Indian blockbusters of 2023.

This Chiranjeevi movie released during Pongal once again proved the dominance of the South Indian superstar and became the highest earner in Tollywood this year.

Vaathi - (February 17, 2023)- Netflix

Vaathi also released as Sir is a bilingual movie and the third-biggest South Indian film of 2023 and has been loved by both the critics and the audience.

Veera Simha Reddy (January 12, 2003)- Disney Plus Hotstar

Starcast: Nandamuri Balakrishna, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Honey Rose

The movie was released just a day before Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya. But even then the magic of NBK worked wonders with Veer Simha Reddy keeping the cash box busy in theaters for weeks together in 2023. Eventually, it went on to become the second-highest-earning Telugu movie in 2023.

Dasara (March 30, 2023)- Netflix

Ponniyin Selvan: II (April 28, 2023)- Prime Video

Starcast: Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha

PSI and PSII was the dream project of Mani Ratnam and it became a big hit. The first part was released on September 30, 2022, whereas the second part was released in April this year. Overall the franchise earned more than 500 crore worldwide.
