Battle Of Galwan: Salman Khan kickstarts shooting; to shoot climax sequences first in Ladakh?
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has officially begun filming Battle of Galwan, a patriotic drama centred on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. On Tuesday, the actor dropped the first glimpse of his character on social media with the caption, “#BattleOfGalwan,” signalling that the cameras have started rolling.
In the image, Salman appears in full army uniform, complete with a moustache and a piercing, intense gaze. A clapperboard- bearing the film’s title and marked “Shot 1”- partially covers his face, indicating the beginning of the very first scene. Shot in Leh, the picture captures a blurred background, keeping all the focus on Salman’s stern expression and the clapperboard.
Interestingly, the production has chosen to shoot the climax sequences before anything else. Reports suggest that the makers want to avoid setbacks caused by Ladakh’s unpredictable weather.
As per an India Today report, “Galwan’s climax is among the most important parts of the film, both visually and emotionally. Given Leh and Ladakh’s unpredictable weather, the makers want to ensure the quality of these sequences is not compromised. That is why they are planning to complete as much as possible during this schedule itself.”
The climax, expected to be high-octane and emotionally gripping, will be filmed over the next two to three weeks.
Shooting in Ladakh has been anything but easy. Salman has acknowledged the physical demands of the role, telling PTI, “It is physically demanding. Earlier, I would train for a role in a couple of weeks. Now it takes more time. This film demands a lot- running, kicking, and punching, along with extreme conditions like high altitude and freezing water.”
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is expected to showcase the courage, struggles, and sacrifices of Indian soldiers during the historic Galwan battle. Salman will be seen in the lead role, donning a soldier’s avatar to bring the story alive on the big screen.
With its gripping subject, challenging terrains, and Salman Khan leading from the front, Battle of Galwan is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about patriotic dramas in the coming months.
