Babil Khan
Babil Khan, son of late actor Irrfan Khan, has officially announced his departure from director Sai Rajesh’s upcoming Hindi film — the remake of the 2023 Telugu hit Baby.
The announcement came through an emotional Instagram post on Saturday, where Babil cited “unforeseen circumstances” as the reason for opting out. His statement also noted that he will be taking some time off from work.
Sharing his thoughts on Instagram, Babil wrote:
“With a lot of grit, passion, and mutual respect, Sai Rajesh sir and I both got along on this journey of creating magic together. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, things didn’t go ahead as everyone had planned. Since I will be taking some time off currently, I wish the best to Sai Rajesh sir and the film team on their future journey. I know there is immense love between us, and we will meet soon in the future and create magic.”
Director Sai Rajesh responded with a heartfelt note of his own. He praised Babil as “one of the most talented and hardworking actors” he has ever met, and reflected on their time prepping for the film.
“After spending time with Babil while prepping, I was very happy to be working with such a talented actor… I will miss my Hero! I respect his decision of self-care first, and wish him all the best,” the director wrote.
The sudden development follows an online spat between the two. A few days ago, Babil broke down emotionally in a now-viral video, mentioning fellow actors like Ananya Panday, Adarsh Gourav, and Siddhant Chaturvedi. The video led to public confusion, prompting his team to issue a clarification, stating that he was acknowledging the contributions of his peers in the industry.
However, this didn’t sit well with director Sai Rajesh, who took to social media to express his disappointment. He questioned why Babil’s team failed to acknowledge others who supported him — hinting at a lack of recognition for the team behind the film.
Babil didn’t hold back in his response. In a now-deleted comment, he shared how deeply committed he was to the role:
“You really broke my heart. After everything I’ve given to you. 2 years of my life, complete physical atrocity to my body... I gave him my soul… rejected everything that came in my way for 2 years… 500 days of my life.”
He added: “I lived in filth just to make sure sir @sairajesh is happy with the character… I slit my fu**ing wrist for him.”
While both Babil and Sai Rajesh have since deleted their emotional posts, the exchange has raised concerns among fans and industry insiders alike. Babil’s decision to step back from acting appears to be a move prioritizing self-care and emotional well-being.
Though Babil hasn’t announced a specific return date, he has left the door open for future collaborations. For now, the starkid seems to be focusing on healing and personal growth.
