Yes Boss, Aziz Mirza
Shah Rukh Khan did not have a film background. So he had to start from a scratch to become an actor in Bollywood. The irony is that when he did become a very successful actor his parents were no more and to date SRK laments the fact. However, when the King of Bollywood was in his struggling days, doing work in theaters and television, his ailing mother was quite insecure about Shah Rukh Khan’s career as an actor.
That is the time when SRK was doing Aziz Mirza’s serial Circus along with Kundan Shah. The series also starred Ashutosh Gowarikar and Renuka Shahane in important roles. In a way his career did start with Aziz Mirza and later on Shah Rukh Khan went on to do some good movies like Yes Boss, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, and Chalte Chalte with him.
It shows that Aziz Mirza played an important role in giving Shah Rukh Khan good movies in Bollywood during his initial days and establishing himself as a superstar.
During a recent podcast, Aziz Mirza recalled his conversation with the mother of the Fan actor. He said, “I remember main gaya tha Delhi. Unki walda (mother) beemar thi. Main gaya tha Delhi toh unse milne gaya tha. Toh unhone muzhse pucha ke ‘what will happen to my son? Will he do well?’ Maine unse kaha ki ek cheez ka yakeen rakhiyega ki your son .. I don’t know whether he will be a superstar or not. But he will always do good because he is a good actor.”
“Ek aur cheez main bolna chahunga. Shah Rukh is an excellent actor,” the veteran director added. Recalling his first meeting with the Bollywood superstar Aziz Mirza said that SRK is one actor who can deliver anything that a director wants but if the director fails then Shah Rukh will be Shah Rukh.
