Ayesha Jhulka
Ayesh Jhulka, the beautiful actress of the 90s celebrates her 51st birthday today. The girl who was launched in Bollywood with Salman Khan-led Kurbaan gave some memorable performances in BTown and a few big hits. While she did struggle to maintain her stardom, her sudden disappearance from movies surprised many.
Ayesha wanted to become an actress since childhood
Ayesh Jhulka wanted to become an actress since her childhood days after she worked as a child artist in a movie in 1983. But her parents were not in favour of it. Her father, Wing Commander Inder Kumar Jhulka, was an Indian Air Force Officer and her mother Sneha Jhulka did not want their daughter to do movies. But she managed to convince them and landed in Mumbai. However, she was well aware that there is no guarantee of a good career in Bollywood and hence kept her Plan B of continuing studying fashion designing ready.
From losing Narsimha to getting Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander
Ayesha Jhulka was almost finalised for N Chandra-helmed Narasimha that starred Dimple Kapadia and Sunny Deol in the lead roles. But at the last moment, she was replaced by the Rangeela girl Urmila Matondkar which left Ayesha very disheartened. But soon she got a good role in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander which was earlier being done by a newcomer Girija. However, due to some reasons, Mansoor Ali Khan decided to replace her with Ayesha, and to date it is one of the biggest hits of her career.
Khiladi made her a star
It was Khiladi with Akshay Kumar that made her a star. She worked in several other movies with Akki, but Khiladi continues to be the best movie of the onscreen couple. Interestingly she also was allegedly linked up with Akki for some time and there was quite a buzz about her rumoured affair with veteran actor Nana Patekar.
But she surprised everyone by marrying businessman Sameer Vashi. The actor has been running a clothing line all these years and now has returned to acting in the digital space.
Instead of having children, she adopted 2 villages in Gujarat
Ayesha was not keen on having children after marriage and her husband was also okay with it. But instead, the couple decided to adopt two villages in Gujarat a few years ago and since then she has been looking after the food and schooling of 160 schoolchildren from these villages.
