Amidst her linkup rumours with ‘Dasvi’ actor Abhishek Bachchan, the stunning Nimrat Kaur inaugurated a war memorial dedicated to her late father Major Bhupender Singh on his 72nd birth anniversary. Nimrat’s father, Major Singh was a valiant officer of the Indian Army and was killed by terrorists on January 23, 1994, while serving in Jammu and Kashmir.

The memorial, featuring a bronze statue of him, honours Major Singh and 12 other soldiers who made the prime sacrifice on the line of duty.

Nimrat along with her mother Avinash Kaur and sister Rubina Singh attended the inauguration ceremony along with the families of the other 12 fallen soldiers. The memorial was inaugurated in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan and the public place has been named as Major Bhupender Singh Chowk.

Taking to her Instagram handle, Nimrat shared, “On Papa’s 72nd Birth Anniversary today, Mama, my sister and I inaugurated a memorial in his name honouring not only his but 12 other gallant soldiers’ supreme sacrifice for the nation all hailing from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. A dream my family and I dreamt of 30 years ago since we lost him in Jammu and Kashmir in 1994, finally came true.”

“Papa was a son of the soil, born to a farmers’ family in Mohanpura village. He led, lived and died by example, fearless and fierce till his last breath. Words fail me today to express the pride I feel standing on this soil, in his birthplace witnessing immortalising his name and life story to inspire present day and future generations,” she added.

She ended her long Instagram post with, “Long live my father’s name and long live his legacy…Jai Hind 🙏🏼”
