Alia Bhatt
Alia Bhatt who earlier had given the nod for Nitesh Tiwari-helmed Ramayana has now reportedly walked out of the project citing date issues. Nitesh has been very passionate about bringing Ramayana alive on the big screen and has planned to do it in three parts. So when the pair of Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor were finalised to play Ram and Sita in the lead fans of the Bollywood couple were ecstatic.
The team had even planned a crucial test shoot that was scheduled to take place by the end of July this year. The test was to check whether the set looked authentic enough to match the ancient era of Ramayana. The team had also started working on the pre-production activities with Nitesh Tiwari aiming to take the movie on floors this December.
However, now that Alia Bhatt has decided to let go of the project there might be a change in this schedule.
Ranbir Kapoor is locked as Ram, talks going on with Yash
Although Alia has left the film, Ranbir Kapoor is very much a part of this project. There were reports earlier that the producers are in talks with KGF fame Yash for the role of Ravana. Now there is a strong buzz that the Kannada superstar has already completed the look test as Ravana and is currently in discussion with the producer Madhu Mantena and Namit Malhotra.
With Ranbir and Yash still part of the project, the hunt is on for a new actress who will replace Alia. After Prabhas -led Adipurush flopped badly, many warned Nitesh Tiwari against making yet another movie based on Ramayana. But the Dangal director is confident that his projection and presentation of Ramayana will be completely different from that of Om Raut-helmed movie.
The producers are also eager to come up with spectacular and meaningful content that will do justice to the mythological epic and touch the hearts of people.
