  • Akshay's last big hit was Sooryavanshi.
  • Even though OMG2 was also a hit it had Akshay Kumar doing a small role.

The last big hit of Akshay Kumar was Sooryavanshi with Katrina Kaif, helmed by Rohit Shetty and released in 2021. Most of his movies were released after that, including Raksha Bandhan, Cutputli, Prithviraj, Selfiee, Mission Raniganj, Ram Setu, and OMG 2. Except OMG 2 none of his movies can be called a hit. And even in OMG 2 Akshay Kumar had a small role as the lead was Pankaj Tripathi.

So how come he continues to get good movies? And this is not true only for the last few years after he became a superstar but also when he was struggling in Bollywood. Akshay Kumar himself has said on air that despite giving multiple flops in a row he continued to get movies because he was punctual, disciplined, had a good body, and ready to do hard work.

But the reason why Akshay is still getting good films in the past couple of years despite giving big flops is entirely different. According to a social media influencer, Akshay matters and continues to get good offers as compared to Shah Rukh Khan or Hrithik Roshan even if his films are not doing well because even his poorest box-office performer gives good returns when released on television and OTT platforms.

The source says, “Who remembers and watches films like #Zero, #ToH, #Guzaarish or #Bholaa, etc.? Noone. But even a #Selfiee is rewatched and talked about more. Nadiadwala made more money from a #BachchanPaandey or AnandRai from #Rakshabandhan than the producers of #VikramVedha. Producers of Zero asked for a refund but this did not happen for #Prithviraj. So even when not giving a hit, #Askhay floats while others sink.”

One thing is obvious Akshay Kumar’s stardom is never affected by the fact whether his movies are doing well or not. From Hera Pheri, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa to Holiday and Kesari, Akshay Kumar’s versatility has ensured that he can fit in any role and do justice to it.
