Kayadu Lohar
Rising actress Kayadu Lohar, who recently rose to fame with her role in Ashwath Marimuthu’s Dragon opposite Pradeep Ranganathan, has come under the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) scanner in connection with the high-profile TASMAC scam.
According to reports, Lohar has been named by individuals apprehended during recent ED raids related to the case. The actress is alleged to have received Rs 35 lakh per night for attending night parties hosted by people linked to the scam.
The TASMAC scam revolves around alleged large-scale corruption within Tamil Nadu's state-run liquor distribution company, TASMAC (Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation). The ED had initiated a money laundering probe into the misappropriation of funds and illegal financial transactions involving key figures in the liquor distribution network.
While the investigation has created political and public ripples, the Supreme Court of India recently criticized the ED’s approach. On Thursday, the apex court stated that the ED is “crossing all the limits” and infringing upon the federal structure of governance. In a significant development, the Supreme Court also stayed the money laundering investigation against TASMAC, casting doubt on the legitimacy of the ED’s current pursuit.
As for Kayadu Lohar, no formal charges have been filed, and she has not released any public statement regarding her alleged involvement. Her sudden rise in the film industry and association with high-profile individuals has drawn increased scrutiny. As the probe unfolds, all eyes remain on the ED’s next move and the actress’s response, which may prove pivotal in clarifying her position in this widening controversy.
