Aamir Khan calls marrying Reena Dutta a 'mistake'! Fell 'unexpectedly' for Gauri Spratt, check details

Bollywood Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan is currently gearing up for his upcoming Sitaare Zameen Par. Ending all speculations surrounding the release of the spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par, amid the backlash and boycott calls, Khan confirmed that the movie will hit the theatres on June 20. He also denied the reports of a YouTube or OTT release. Well, the actor also got candid about his personal life. He called his first marriage with Reena Dutta a 'mistake' and also revealed that he 'unexpectedly' fell for Gauri Spratt.

Aamir Admits Marrying Reena Was A 'Mistake' Because...

Notably, in 1986 Aamir Khan married at the age of 21 to Reena Dutta, who was just 19 at the time. However, after 16 years of togetherness, the duo parted ways in 2002. During his candid conversation with Raj Shamani on his podcast, Khan reflected on the whirlwind romance and youthful excitement that led to a major life choice.

Khan said, "We had only known each other for four months before that, and even during those four months, we hadn't spent much time together. But, there was a lot of love and affection between us which is why we got married."

However, looking back at his impulsive decision with more clarity, he said, "But, today when I look back, I feel that a step as important as marriage should be taken with careful thought. In the passion of youth, you don't understand many things."

However, Khan also made it clear that he had a wonderful life with Dutta and said that she wasn't a mistake. The PK star said that his first wife is very precious to him and they grew up together as they were very young when they married. He also said that they have immense respect and love for each other. He also explained that though the marriage was rushed, it brought many beautiful moments into his life, including becoming parents of Junaid and Ira.

Despite that, he admitted, "So, it's difficult. In one way, I'd call it a mistake that I decided to marry someone within four months. Such a big decision was made so quickly."

Well, the Dhoom 3 actor also said that he feels that somehow the decision turned out to be right. He also added that 'we make mistakes and learn from them.'

Aamir Khan Fell 'Unexpectedly' for Gauri

Aamir Khan's confirmation about his relationship with Gauri Spratt left the internet abuzz. The 60-year-old actor admitted that following his divorce from Kiran Rao in 2021, he wasn’t looking to fall in love again.

During the same conversation, he said, "Before I met Gauri, I felt like I had aged… Who will I find at this age? Therapy really helped me understand that I needed to love myself first. I had to heal and work on my own emotional health."

Further, he added, "Gauri and I met by mistake. We connected, became friends… and love happened."

Aamir on Ex-Wives

Reflecting on his relationships with his ex-wives, Khan said, "I’ve had two very strong, deep relationships with Reena and Kiran. And we are still close. We respect each other and always will. We may not be husband and wife anymore, but we will always be family."
