12th Fail beats Bollywood biggies to claim No. 1 IMDb rating among 250 All Time Indian best movies

Vidhu Vinod Chopra-helmed 12th Fail has emerged as one of the best films of 2023 despite tough competition from Shah Rukh Khan ’s Dunki and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal. Interestingly, this Vikrant Massey movie was made on a very low budget and no one expected it to earn so much appreciation and attention. Taking into consideration its small budget, 12th Fail can be well considered as the biggest hit of last year.

12th Fail receives a stellar rating on IMDb

The movie is based on the real-life story of an IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma who came from a very poor family and under dire circumstances became an officer of the highest caliber. This story has captivated the hearts of millions of Indians who can relate to the struggles and phases of life that have been depicted in 12th Fail.

If its massive success has surprised the trade analysts then they are in for one more big surprise. On the IMBb rating, 12th Fail has been ranked at the top spot among the 250 all-time best Indian movies. With a rating of 9.2 (astonishing) out of 10, the movie has surpassed all-time bests like Kamal Haasan’s Nayakan, Amol Palekar’s Golmaal, and Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots.

Surprisingly, the most massive blockbusters of recent times like Pathaan, Jawan, Animal, Gadar 2, or Tiger 3 are nowhere to be seen in the top 10 indicating that business in crores does not indicate the quality of the content. Abhishek Bachchan was entirely fair when he said last month that 12th Fail is the biggest blockbuster of 2023.

Talking about movies doing good or bad business, Junior Bachchan said that he is not the one to complain about it but purely on a mathematical level, he believed that not Jawan or Pathaan but it is 12th Fail which is the biggest hit of 2023.
