After city-to-city promotions by Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan, finally, their movie Zara Hatke Zara Bachke has hit the theaters. Their chemistry was quite evident when the two were promoting the film at the IIFA 2023 or even on the streets.
But, were Vicky and Sara successful in translating the same on the screen too? Does the movie make an impact? This and much more are right here in this review!
Zara Hatke Zara Bachke Story
The movie by Laxman Utekar revolves around a couple who are hunting for a home so that they can stay away from their families. And here there is a twist. To ensure that they get a flat through the Government’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna the couple gets a divorce.
The tale is very relatable about the middle-class couples in towns who struggle to get privacy from interfering relatives. Kapil (Vicky Kaushal) and Saumya (Sara Ali Khan) fall in love in Indore and get married.
They start staying with Kapil’s family as is the regular norm but are often disturbed by the interfering relatives and struggle to get those special moments of privacy and romance.
The son of Kapil’s mama sleeps in between him and his wife and naturally so as mami is the typical vamp from the old era who keeps on nagging Saumya. That is when the couple decides to buy a new flat and for that, they divorce so that they can secure a flat in PMAY.
What follows is a roller-coaster ride for Kapil and Saumya that trigger a lot of laughter and hilarious situations in the movie.
The Review
The movie has a lot of comic moments popping up naturally here and there but also takes bizarre turns in between. From Vicky Kaushal trying to bargain for saving for his wife to wearing a fake tooth so that he can meet his wife secretly the movie has all things that can happen to a normal middle-class couple. Of course, the Mimi director has taken creative liberty here and there but it is expected.
The love triangle or when the government officials come to check whether Saumya is really a divorcee or not is quite interesting. Especially, the way Kapil turns into a plumber when the government officials come to inspect the home of Saumya. Despite being a rib-tickling movie the momentum drops in the second half and is quite monotonous and predictable in the last hour.
All in all, the chemistry between the lead stars is fantastic and the movie in its entirety is entertaining and is a fun ride but is forgettable once you come out of the theaters.
