  • During an event, Big B revealed one particular habit of Yash Chopra that was always a part of his every movie.

Amitabh Bachchan and Yash Chopra together have given some big hits in Bollywood. Importantly, the two have collaborated on films with diverse subjects from Deewaar to Kabhie Kabhie. Since Big B has worked in most of his movies that were released during the 70s and 80s he is well versed with the style of working of Yash Chopra.

During a promotional event for a movie titled 102 Not Out in which Amitabh Bachchan had worked with Rishi Kapoor after a long gap, the Senior Bachchan narrated his particular observation that he had made about Yash Chopra’s style of directing a particular scene or sequence.

The Trishul actor said, “We did Kabhi Kabhi together (with Rishi Kapoor). Aur saath mein Yashji ke saath maine Deewaar shuru kar di thi. Toh Deewaar almost completion pe thi. Aur Deewaar ki jo rooprekha thi, kahani thi aur uska jo mood tha, jo character tha, woh Kabhi Kabhi se ekdam viparit tha. Almost 2 days of shooting the Deewaar shoot we were in Kashmir shooting for Kabhi Kabhi. Romance, flowers, elegant clothing, Kashmir and everything.”

Amitji added, “Bada ajeeb sa laga tab sab hame. But this was the craft of Yash Chopra. He was able to switch from one to the other and always. But even in film like Deewaar one or two moments when Yashji used to have an opportunity, serious scene chal raha hai jaise ki Parveen Babiji ka aur mera scene chal raha hai jahan mera baap jo tha woh chor tha aur jaise hi koi aisa scene khatam ho jata tha he would zoom to a bouquet. If you notice in Deewaar kahin na kahin aap ko dikh jayega ye. Toh woh adat se majboor the. Unko phool, paudhe, mithas, shayari ye sab bahut pasand tha.”

And this is quite evident from the movies of Yash Chopra. Be it Chandni or Lamhe, Yash Chopra always captured the best landscapes, greeneries, flower valleys, and beauty of Switzerland and was even honoured with the title Ambassador of Interlaken by the Swiss government.
