Karan Johar’s iconic classic Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham completes 22 years today. It was one of the biggest movies two decades ago with a stellar star cast including Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, and Kareena Kapoor Khan. Over the years many different facts and even fictions related to this big film have been circulating on the web.

Here are some lesser-known facts about K3G that are very real and interesting:

Abhishek Bachchan had a cameo in K3G

Abhishek Bachchan had a cameo in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham which was later on deleted on the editing table. In the small cameo, the Dasavi actor inquires about time to Kareena, and the latter assumes mistakenly that he is inviting her for a prom date. Funnily enough, Kareena aka Poo who has rejected almost all the boys from her college for the prom date gets rejected by Abhishek.

Shah Rukh Khan annoyed Kajol with his rattling

For Kajol learning and speaking Punjabi dialogues in K3G was very difficult. She comes from a Bengali and Marathi family and hence at that time was not exposed to the Punjabi lingo. Shah Rukh Khan would say irrelevant sentences in Punjabi just to annoy and make Kajol go off the track.

50 dancers were flown from London for ‘You are My Soniya’

Since the film shows Shah Rukh’s family relocated to London, it was important that the dancers in the background of songs shot there must look European. That is why Dharma Productions flew 50 dancers from London who danced with Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the hit song “You are my Soniya.”

Suraj Hua Madhyam was not made for K3G

Composed by Sandesh Shandilya, the very famous Alka Yagnik and Sonu Nigam song “Suraj Hua Madhyam” was not made for K3G. Rather Sandesh wanted to make an independent album with this and other songs. However, he let Karan Johar use it for his movie on special request.

Karan Johar fainted on the sets

The song Bole Chudiyan sort of brought two brothers together and was an important part of the movie. It had all the lead stars dancing which put a lot of stress on director Karan Johar. And that is why he collapsed on the sets due to dehydration. Since he was too weak to come on the sets the next day, he ended up giving instructions from bed on walkie-talkie.

UK court sued Karan for a copyright issue

The song “It’s Raining Men” was used in the background when Kareena was introduced as Poo in K3G. That is why the UK court sued him.
