  • SLB's Devdas completes 20 years of its release today.
  • Here are some interesting facts about the movie.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s cult classic Devdas completes 20 years today. The movie was largely loved for its beautiful frames, storytelling, grand presentation, star cast, and as expected exclusive dresses of both Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

The flick brought Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri, and Ash for the first time together on celluloid and it certainly was a major draw at the box office. Apart from Maddy and Ash’s jugalbandi in Dhola Re Dhola, it was the beauty of Miss World’s eyes that left SLB stumped.

He even said that Aishwarya’s eyes are the most important aspect of her beauty and that they are so powerful that even without any dialogue they can emote feelings very effectively. Here are some more interesting things about Devdas:

SLB bought the title at a big price

The title of the movie was registered in the name of producer K Chopra and he was not willing to let go of it. Sanjay Leela Bhansali waited for years and ultimately paid a big price to get it registered in his name.

Dhola Re Dhola took a week to shoot

For the first time, Ash and the Dhak Dhak girl were dancing together on the big screen and that made SLB quite anxious. It took him a week to shoot that song because he wanted it to be just perfect since two big actresses were coming together for the first time.

Ash started bleeding due to earrings

The designer lehengas and heavy jewelry were the big attraction of Devdas. But at one point during the shooting, Aishwarya’s ears started bleeding because the earrings were very heavy. However, she completed shooting for the dance sequence without letting anyone know about her pain.

Heavy outfit of Madhuri Dixit

The designer outfit that Madhuri wore during the song 'Kahe Chhedd Mohe' weighed 30 kg and the actress had to shoot a complex choreography wearing that. But being a thorough professional, Madhuri not only completed the shoot but also looked at ease and very elegant in the dance.

Kotha of Chandramukhi

Chandramukhi’s Kotha was built beside a lake that had a tendency to dry regularly and to ensure that each frame looked picture-perfect gallons of water had to be poured into the lake multiple times.
