Cracking the UPSC exam is a dream of millions who want to bring in a change in the society and nation as a whole. Every year, we come across several stories of people, who emerge as champions by breaking barriers or shining after fighting odd circumstances.

The publication of the Civil Services Examination 2022 on Tuesday was also no different as several instances of grit and determination of several aspirants won millions of hearts.

Ram Bhajan Kumar

Delhi Police Head Constable Ram Bhajan Kumar is currently posted at a cyber-cell police station. He secured All India Rank of 667 in his eighth attempt. It was always a dream of Kumar to serve people and do much more than what he was currently doing for society.

Kumar’s Inspiration

Firoz Alam, who was also constable in the Delhi Police and after clearing the UPSC exams in 2019, became an ACP. "After Alam sir secured rank, I got motivation to strive hard. He also made a Whatsapp group to encourage and motivate UPSC aspirants like me and others. He has been a constant support system till date," said Kumar.

Suraj Tiwari

Suraj Tiwari is certainly an inspiration for millions who think physical disability is a major hurdle. A resident of Kaswa Kuravli in Mainpuri district, Tiwari secured 917th rank in the civil service examinations. He has disability in both his legs and one hand.

Tiwari met with an accident on January 29, 2017 and lost both his legs from above the knee and his right hand near just below the elbow. He was completely bedridden and dependent on his family members. However, it was during the Covid-19 pandemic that Tiwari decided to prepare for one of the toughest exams. Though he cleared the UPSC in first attempt, fell short in the interview. However, he cleared the exam in his second attempt.

Siddalingappa K Poojar

Siddalingappa K Poojar is now on cloud nine after securing 589th rank in the Civil Services Examination, 2022. Poojar is the son of a bus driver attached to the state-owned transport company in Karnataka. Siddalingappa has completed BE (Electronics) and is working at a private company in Bengaluru.
