The Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DSE) will announce the first cut off mark for students seeking admission to various streams of Plus 2 colleges across the State, on Monday.

According to sources, the merit list will be published on Students Academic Management System (SAMS) portal- samsodisha.gov.in at 11.30 today. 

The admission for the shortlisted candidates will be conducted between September 14 and 21.

The second phase of the merit list will be released on September 27 and the selected students will get admission between September 29 and October 1.

The spot-selection list will be out on October 4. Selected candidates can register themselves for admission by October 5. The spot admission will be conducted on October 7.

More than 6 lakh students had passed the Matriculation examination, the results of which were announced as per the evaluation criteria fixed by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) as the examination had to be cancelled in view of the Covid-19 pandemic this year.

In view of the pass percentage in the 2021 Matriculation examination, the State government has decided to increase seats in Plus II streams in various colleges across the State.

The Minister informed that applications were received to hike nearly 72,000 seats in the State. Following a review, the government has decided to increase 38,000 seats in Arts, 13,000 seats in Science, and 3,900 seats in the Commerce stream. The concerned department had received applications seeking a hike of 40,000 seats in Arts, 25,000 seats in Science, and 4,000 seats in Commerce stream.

Meanwhile, it is believed that the cut mark may rise this year.
