The agitating 662 category teachers have threatened that they will not cooperate in the Plus II exams scheduled to start on February 16 if their demands are not met.

After 358 days of round-the-clock dharna, the 662 category Plus II and Plus III teachers on Monday intensified their protest by staging a demonstration at the Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar. They launched their agitation with sloganeering against the government, accusing it of paying no heed to their demands.

Their demands include 'equal grade, equal salary', pension for those who have retired, and salary as per the seventh pay commission among others.

Owing to the strike, 784 Plus II and Plus III colleges remained closed on Monday. The agitating teachers said the same situation would prevail till their demands are not fulfilled.

The agitating teachers said they won’t cooperate in Plus II exams scheduled to start on February 16.

“Our strike has been going on since February 13 last year. During this period, we organised seven conventions and our round-the-clock dharna is continuing. Today all the schools and colleges are closed. They would remain closed till our demands are not met,” said an agitating member.
