The 662 category teachers' association has threatened to resort to cease work if the Odisha government does not consider their demand for ‘equal grade, equal salary’. It is now 140 days that the teachers have been continuing with their protest at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar. The association has decided to boycott teaching as they allege that no step has been taken by the state government to fulfill their demands.

The teaching in Plus II and Plus III colleges is likely to get affected following the proposed cease work stir by the 662 category teachers in the state.

"Our demand is equal grade, equal salary, and resolving the anomalies and pension for those who have retired. We have given 15 days time to the Odisha government. We will be forced to cease work and stage agitation in front of colleges on July 20," said Golak Nayak, President of the 662 category colleges association.

Nayak further added that they had cooperated with the government in the completion of evaluation duty in the larger interest of the students. However, they are deprived of the benefits even as they shoulder nearly 70 percent of the workload in the higher education department and are also not getting pensions.
