For today’s youth, getting a seat in an IIT institute is a dream come true achievement. Because, after passing out of these institutions, students are assured of getting jobs in MNCs with a whopping package. But, there have been students who ventured into entirely different careers after completing their engineering studies at an IIT institute.

Meet Garima Agrawal, a young girl who successfully completed her studies at IIT and even went to Germany for an internship.

However, in a very short span, Garima decided to change the course of her career and shifted her focus to the IAS examinations. Every year UPSC holds the CSE (Civil Services Exams) accepting applications from young candidates in India who want to serve the nation by holding high positions in the country’s bureaucracy.

Garima passed the IAS exam successfully on the first attempt

Garima Agrawal’s native place is Khargon, Madhya Pradesh, where she completed her basic school education. She was intelligent right from her childhood. Her sister Preeti also passed the Postal Services Exams and is now working in India’s postal department. Prior to giving UPSC civil services exam, Garima first completed her engineering degree from Hyderabad’s IIT institute.

Post that she was selected for an internship in Germany. However, Garima was not happy with the way her career was going and decided to give civil services a try. She passed the exam on the first attempt but decided to give it a second time because her goal was to earn a higher rank in the exam. And in her second attempt, Garima managed to earn 40th rank and completed her training in Mussoorie in 2020.

While giving tips to IAS aspirants Garima said that aspirants should prepare for the UPSC pre-exam, mains, and interview simultaneously to ensure that they have in-depth knowledge of the subject right from the start.
