All technical institutions including ITIs/Polytechnics/ Engineering and Professional Colleges/Technical Universities in Odisha to be closed from April 28.

The technical institutions will remain shut till May 2. However, all the exams which were earlier scheduled to be held will be conducted, informed the department.

As per reports, the concerned department has taken the decision in view of the severe heatwave conditions in Odisha. Students staying in hostels of the technical institutions can however continue to stay during the period, said sources.

Besides, the Odisha government on Tuesday suspended the physical mode of teaching for the Under Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) students.

In a notification, the Department of Higher Education said all the classroom teaching for UG and PG in all higher education institutions will remain suspended from today (April 27).

Keeping in view the heatwave conditions, the State government had earlier declared closure of all schools in the State for a period of five days starting April 26 .

"Government after careful consideration have been pleased to suspend the classes of all Educational Institutions under S&ME Department i.e. Government, Government Aided and privately managed (Odia & English medium) from 26.04.2022 to 30.04.2022 (except for examination which has already been scheduled by BSE & CHSE)," read a letter of the State School and Mass Education Department.
