The Odisha government has decided to reopen physical classes for the students of Class 11 and Class 8 from October 21 and 25 respectively, informed the State School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Friday.   

“Following the direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the School and Mass Education department has decided to open Class 11 from October 21. Similarly, a decision has been taken to open Class 8 from October 25,” he told mediapersons. 

“A meeting will be conducted with the district education officers (DEOs) in this regard tomorrow (October 16) and instructions will be issued to them to initiate preparations for the commencement of classes for students of Class 8 and 11,” he added. 

Speaking about the timing of classes, the Minister said the classes will be conducted in general timing and a detailed programme will be released by the department soon. 

Asked about the plan for commencement of classes for students of Standard 1 to 7, the minister said the department will take a decision in this regard in a phased manner.
