The Ministry of Education on Monday said that CBSE Class 10 and 12 students will have 40 per cent and 30 per cent of questions competency-based, respectively, in the board exams.

These competency-based questions will comprise objective type, assertion and reasoning, constructing response type and case-based, informed Minister of State for Education, Annapurna Devi in response to a written question in Lok Sabha.

"In pursuance of NEP-2020, CBSE has been introducing competency-based questions in the Classes 10 and 12 board examinations to reform the pattern of examinations. These questions will have multiple formats such as objective type, constructing response type, assertion and reasoning, and case-based format," she said.

The Minister further said, "In the academic session 2022-23, approximately 40 percent of questions in Class 10 board examinations and approximately 30 percent of questions in Class 12 are competency-based."

Meanwhile, the annual practical examinations/ internal assessment and project assessments for session 2022-23 are scheduled to start from January 1, and the annual theory exams are scheduled to start from February 15, 2023.

As the board is yet to release the date sheet, several rumours related to the time table of CBSE Class 10 and 12 board exams are making rounds. Hence, the board on Sunday informed students to be alert and not to believe such fake date sheets which are in circulation on social media.
