The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently announced that the first term board exams for class 10 will begin from November 30, while the exams for class 12 are scheduled from December 1.

The exams for minor subjects for class 10 will be held from November 17 to December 7, while it will be conducted from November 16 to December 30 for class 12 students.

It is pertinent to mention here that holding two term-end exams and rationalising the syllabus was part of the special assessment scheme for class 10 and 12 CBSE board exams for the current academic session, announced in July in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, according to Times of India, the class 10 and 12 students will only be given marks as results and not grades. Citing an instruction from the board, ToI said that the grades will come in after students complete both the term examinations.

Meanwhile, schools have reportedly been directed to complete practicals, internal assessments and projects for the first term before the written exams and the Practicals will be conducted before November 30. 

The board is offering as many as 75 subjects (nine major subjects) in class 10, and 114 subjects (19 major subjects)in class 12.

The term exams will be of objective type and the duration of the tests will be 90 minutes. The exams will start from 11.30 am. Schools will hold the exams for the minor subjects while the question papers will be provided by the CBSE.
