  • The decision to reduce the syllabus was implemented by taking into account the pandemic situation and the problems faced by the schools in transacting the syllabus.

In view of the Covid-19 pandemic situation, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) had earlier announced reduction in syllabus for a number of subjects at the ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) levels for the 2022 board examinations.

The decision to reduce the syllabus was implemented by taking into account the pandemic situation and the problems faced by the schools in transacting the syllabus.

In a letter to the Principals and heads of schools, CISCE has stated that the process of syllabus review for the remaining subjects at the ICSE and ISC levels, specifically for Classes 10 and 12 for the Examination Year 2022 has been completed. Similarly, some modifications/ reductions in several renaming subjects, in consultation with subject experts have been made.

“For the complete set of syllabi for different subjects at the ICSE/ ISC levels, please refer to the following documents, which are available on the CISCE website www.cisce.org under the PUBLICATIONS section,” the CISCE letter read.

The Board has also instructed school authorities to strictly adhere to the sequence of the topics given in the syllabus.

“We are in the midst of the pandemic, and there is uncertainty as to when schools across the country will be able to return to normalcy. It is reiterated that the concerned subject teachers transact the syllabus strictly according to the sequence of topics given in the syllabus. This will ensure that all CISCE affiliated schools are broadly teaching the same topics at any given point of time as well as facilitate subsequent reduction in syllabus, if required,” the letter added.
