The Higher Education Department on Friday released the guidelines and timeline for ‘Spot Admissions’ in the first phase of degree colleges (+3 first year) for the academic session 2021-22.
As per the latest notification, the Spot Admissions will be held through the SAMS portal and the applicants, who have registered and submitted their CAF during first phase between August 20 and September 4, 2021, are eligible to apply.
The applicants will have to login with their existing username and password to provide new options (college + subject) irrespective of the options mentioned earlier in the CAF. An applicant can select a maximum of 5 options, the notification read.

The Higher Education department has stated that the vacancy position will be available subject wise, category wise in the portal.
As per the guidelines, the colleges will also notify the number of seats lying vacant, if any, against the subjects in the college website and notice board. Similarly, there will be no weightage, but reservation will continue for all applicants belonging to reserved categories.
The selection of the applicants will be done purely on the basis of marks sercured, subject to the provision of reservations, the guidelines stated.
The Higher Education department has also asked college authorities to maintain a register to receive the applicants’ CAF physically at the college. The candidates are required to submit a handwritten application as per the format along with the edited CAF and a photocopy of self-attested mark sheet, caste certificate, PwD certificate and other documents addressed to the Principal of the college where vacancy exists.
The timeline for spot admission:
Complete verification regarding the vacancy position in different subjects by the colleges in e-space for verification at the level of SAMS: October 4 (11 am) to October 6 (11 am)
Final publication of vacant seats in SAMS website, institution e-space and notice board of higher education institutes: October 8 (5 pm)
Availability of CAF in the applicants login for filling new choices: October 9 (9 am) to October 17(11: 45 pm)
Preparation and publication of select list in college notice board out of the reported candidates as per actual vacancy by respective colleges: October 23 (3 pm)
Updation of selected applicant’s data in institution e-space by the respective higher education institute: October 23 2021 (5 pm)
Reflecting the selected applicant’s option/s in the applicant’s login after updation made by the respective higher education institutions in their e-space: October 24 (2pm)
If a selected applicant got multiple choices/options, he/she has to choose only one selected option for taking spot admission: October 24, 2021 (2 pm onwards) to October 27 (upto 5 pm).
Online deposit of admission fees for selected applicants: October 24 (10 am) to October 28 (5pm)
Document verification and admission of the selected applicants: October 27 (10 am) to October 28, 2021 (upto 5 pm)
Admission data updation in the e-space of respective higher education institution: October 27 to October 30 (upto 5 pm).
