Youth tries to implicate father in false case by keeping gun in vehicle, held

In a bizarre incident, a youth was arrested by Commissionerate Police for trying to implicate his father in a false case by keeping a gun in latter’s vehicle at Balianta area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

According to sources, the accused, identified as Biswajit Das, attempted to send his businessman father to jail for reportedly not supporting him financially.

The Balianta police have arrested Biswajit and his friend Abhirna Mohaptra in connection with the case and seized a 7.6 mm mouser from the vehicle during the search.

“Biswajit came to Balianta police station yesterday and alleged his father has kept a gun in his vehicle and involved in several criminal activities. Acting on his tip-off, a team of STF and local police raided his house and the gun was seized from the vehicle,” Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh said.

“During questioning, the suspect, Surendra Kumar Das, informed his son had taken the vehicle in the afternoon. When we interrogated his son, he could not give satisfactory answers and at last he confessed to his crime,” Singh added.

A case has been registered at Balianta police station and further investigation into the matter is on to ascertain from where they got the gun, the top cop informed.
