Youth thrashed to death after dispute over dinner in Bhubaneswar

In a shocking incident that has triggered widespread outrage in the state capital, a youth was allegedly beaten to death following a heated argument with his friend in Bhubaneswar’s Bharatpur area. The gruesome incident occurred in the Somanath slum under Bharatpur police station. 

According to reports, the youth and his friend had an argument last night. The verbal spat soon escalated into physical violence.

In a fit of rage, his friend reportedly attacked the youth, beating him severely. The youth succumbed to his injuries on the spot, according to preliminary reports.

On receiving information, Bharatpur police reached the scene, recovered the body, and launched an investigation into the matter. 

The body has been sent for post-mortem, and efforts are on to identify and apprehend the accused involved in the brutal crime.

Tapas Chandra Pradhan, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), said, “The youth and his mother were living in a rented house at Somnath slum. The deceased’ friend was also living with them. Yesterday, the youth’s mother left home following an altercation between them. When she returned home this morning, she found her son dead.

“As his son’s friend was absconding, she suspected his involvement. A case has been registered and further investigation into the matter is on,” Pradhan added.
