Youth’s body found hanging in 'Raja swing' at Cuttack’s Banki

Panic gripped local residents after they spotted a youth’s body hanging on a swing installed for the Raja mahotsav at Brahmei pitha under Banki police limits in Cuttack district on late Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Anil Behera of Sahadapada village.

The family members suspect that Anil has been murdered as he had left home with some of his friends last night and never returned.

“We suspect that Anil has been killed as his feet were touching the ground. We want a detailed investigation into the matter,” said deceased youth’s uncle.

Sources said that there was a dispute in the village during the festival yesterday. On getting information, police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

Soumendra Sekhar Tripathy, Inspector of Banki Police station said, “Anil Behera’s body found on swing last night. Local residents are alleging murder. Forensic team has reached the spot. The case will get clear only after a proper investigation.”

"Tripathy further said, "Only after post mortem, we can ascertain whether the youth has committed suicide or he was murdered.
