A youth was allegedly hacked to death by a group of people following a dispute over money inside a lost wallet. The shocking incident was reported from Baripada in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Ramchandra Mukhi.

As per reports, Ramchandra had found a wallet near TB hospital in the Sunagadia area. Later some youths came to him and claimed that the wallet belonged to them. Soon the youths and Ramchandra entered into an argument over Rs 1300 inside the wallet.

While Rama claimed there was only Rs 550 in the purse, the youths claimed there was Rs 1300, leading to a fight between them.

"A dispute took place after my brother found a wallet with cash of Rs 550 inside it. An argument broke out after some youths claimed that that was more money inside the wallet. Later, they attacked us with sharp weapons," said Badal, an injured.

Deceased Ramchandra's wife said, "My husband was trying to pacify the youths, but they attacked him and he died. I want justice."

Following the incident, irate locals gheraoed police station demanding action against the culprits. Meanwhile, police have detained some youths and they are being quizzed in connection with the incident.
