Youth killed over pond dispute in Ganjam; accused surrenders

Tension prevailed at Haradapadar village in Ganjam district after a youth was chased and murdered by another youth. The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Nayak.

As per initial reports, Sanjay was attacked by one Suresh Dakua when the former was returning to his home. It is alleged that Suresh chased Sanjay and later brutally killed him. It is suspected that Sanjay was killed over some dispute on village pond.

"Earlier there was dispute between two groups and a peace meeting was also held at the police station. However, Suresh and others killed Sanjay after intercepting him," alleged the village head.

The deceased youth's sister said, "We want justice. We will lodge a complaint and request police to take appropriate action."
