Youth killed on New Year, body dumped in pond in Kendrapara

Mystery shrouds the death of a youth, whose body was found floating in a pond in Kendrapara district on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Kahnu Charan Nath of Birasoati village.

As per initial reports, Kanhu had left home at night on New Year's Eve to attend the Zero Night festivities. Family members claimed that he didn't return last night.

Later, his body was recovered from the pond, fuelling suspicions of foul play.

“Some people had called him for festivities at night. His wife tried to contact him over the phone, but there was no answer. We suspect that Kanhu was beaten to death and his body was dumped in the pond,” alleged the brother of the deceased adding that he came to know about the incident on Wednesday.

The family members alleged that there were injury marks on Kanhu’s face and other parts of the body. 

Police have retrieved the body and launched a detailed investigation into the incident after sending the body for post-mortem examination.
