Youth, hotel staff injured in separate firing incidents in Odisha

A staff of a hotel sustained critical injury after some unidentified miscreants fired at him at Jamsola area of Mayurbhanj district late Saturday night. As per initial reports, the hotel boy had served food to the miscreants who had come to the eatery under Jharpokharia police limits.

It is alleged that the miscreants picked up a quarrel with the hotel boy over food and later fired at him. Following the incident, the miscreants fled the spot.

Later, the hotel boy, who has sustained a bullet injury on chest, was rushed to Baripada hospital and subsequently shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Meanwhile, the injured hotel staff is reportedly undergoing treatment at the casualty wing of SCB.

“We have conducted X-ray and ultra sound and a CT scan will also be conducted, if required. Only after detailed investigation and examination, a decision will be taken whether a surgery is required or not as the foreign object is said to be present in the body,” said SCB Emergency Officer, BN Moharana.

Meanwhile, police have started investigation into the firing incident.

In another incident, a youth also sustained injury after some miscreants opened fire at him at Sadeipalli village in Bolangir district. The incident occurred when the youth and others were carrying out land measurement in the village.
