Youth found dead at girlfriend’s house in Bhubaneswar; police start probe as kin allege murder

Mystery shrouds the death of a youth at his girlfriend’s house in Sisupalgarh in Bhubaneswar on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Pupun Swain who hailed from the Nimapara area.

Papuni used to work as a mechanic with the public health department. As per initial reports, Papun was in a love relationship with the girl for the last seven years.

On Monday, he had visited her house. However, Papuni allegedly tried to end his life by hanging himself after picking up a quarrel with the girl who works at a Jan Seva Kendra.

Police said that the family members had brought the body of Papuni to Capital Hospital on Monday night. The brother of the deceased has lodged a complaint alleging murder.

“We have registered a case based on the complaint. The deceased was in a relationship with the girl and he had visited her house in the afternoon. As per the girl, Papuni had made an unsuccessful suicide attempt at her house. Later, she went to her duty leaving Papuni at her house after his health condition improved. When she returned, she found him lying unconscious,” said Bhubaneswar Zone 2 ACP, Girija Chakraborthy.

The senior police official said that further investigation in connection with the incident is underway.
