A family dispute took an ugly turn when a man allegedly shot his son dead at Benthua village under Barang police limits of Cuttack on Friday.
According to sources, Jadumani Munda got into a fight with his son Shiv over some unknown issues. In a fit of rage, Jadumani allegedly shot his son in the chest with a country-made gun. He died on the spot.
While the police rushed to the village and launched a probe into the matter, the accused is absconding after committing the crime.

In a related incident, a couple sustained critical bullet injuries after being shot at by unknown miscreants at the Railway Colony of Rourkela on Friday.
Jitendra Shah and his wife were shot by the miscreants in the evening over suspected past enmity. Both of them have been admitted to Ispat General Hospital in critical condition. Later, Jitendra was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU). Police forces were deployed at the hospital for security reasons.
