A youth suffered critical burn injuries after he was allegedly attacked with acid over suspected property dispute and past enmity at Silandi village under Bant police limits of Bhadrak on Thursday night.

As per reports, the youth identified as Partha Sarathi Jena was attacked with acid by miscreants while he was on his way to Chhenapadi market to purchase medicines for his father. The miscreants intercepted him on the road and threw acid on him. 

The youth managed to escape from the place after the attack and ran for his life. He hid himself and contacted his family members and local residents for help. 

Jena was rushed to district headquarters hospital in an ambulance. He suffered severe burns in his eyes and face. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. 

The victim alleged involvement of his elder brother and sister-in-law in the incident.  

“My brother and sister-in-law tricked me and took me to a cremation ground where they attacked me with acid. They attacked me over several issues which includes property dispute, liquor trading as well as political enmity. They took away my motorcycle as I ran away from the place,” said Jena.

It was alleged that Jena was attacked with acid as he raised his voice against liquor trading in the locality.
