The Khallikote police, on Sunday, arrested a youth for allegedly impersonating Inspector In-Charge (IIC) and threatening a person over phone in the area.

The accused has been identified as Sunil Kumar Gaud and he was arrested on the basis of an audio recording of a telephonic conversation.

According to sources, Gaud, posing as an IIC, bullied a person of Bharasa village under Khallikote Tehsil in the district over the phone and threatened to implicate him in a false case.

After receiving threatening from Gaud, the man filed a complaint with Khallikote Police station. Acting on the FIR, the Khallikote Police launched an investigation into the case and nabbed Gaud yesterday.

The call recording of Gaud's conversation with the victim also went viral on various social media platforms where he could be clearly heard taking the IIC's and a political leader's name while threatening the man.

Further investigation into the matter is on to find out why Gaud was threatening the victim and if others are involved in the case. Gaud will be court-forwarded today, said police.
