A youth, who was earlier working as a cook for a religious institution, was arrested on Thursday on charges of blackmailing two minor girls in Bhubaneswar.

The accused identified as Kalia Das is from Dhenkanal and he has been staying in the Capital city.

As per reports, Kalia was earlier working as a cook at ISKCON temple in Bhubaneswar. He allegedly opened fake social media accounts in the name of two sisters and used to post obscene pictures and vulgar messages. He also used to blackmail the minor girls and send vulgar pictures to their family members.

Eventually, the family members lodged a complaint against Kalia in Bhubaneswar cyber police station and he was arrested.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar ISKCON authorities have refuted any kind of connection with the accused.

"The accused was working as a cook at ISKCON nine years back. He has left the organisation and we have no connection with them," said ISKCON temple, Bhubaneswar Co-chairmen Satatwa Pati Das.

"Several people are doing many kinds of business in the name of ISKCON. We have no idea whether the accused is running a similar kind of business or not. If he has done any kind of crime, stern action should be taken against him," said Das.
