Raising questions over the safety and security of the residents in the State capital, a gang of four unidentified women looters attempted to snatch purse from a woman in broad day light near Rasulgarh on Friday afternoon.

As per reports, a woman commuter was waiting for an auto when one of the gang members allegedly approached her and in a split second, snatched her purse and attempted to flee.

However, her bid to rob the purse was foiled as she was intercepted by locals and passersby. Meanwhile, the other members of the gang joined her.

When the people surrounded them and asked her to hand over the purse, the unidentified looter handed over the empty purse. She was however, unrelenting. Soon afterwards, she attacked the locals with a sharp blade in a bid to flee.

However, later people overpowered her and the other members before thrashing them black and blue. They then handed them over to the Saheed Nagar Police.

An investigation has been launched by the police. Further details are awaited.
