Woman’s body exhumed from grave after family alleges pre-planned 'murder'
The body of a woman was exhumed from her grave after family members of the deceased alleged that she was murdered and filed a case against her husband. The exhumed body has been sent for medical examination, police said. The deceased has been identified as Srini Naaz of Rourkela Nala Road.
As per sources, Naaz was married to Manuwar Raj of Khatakurbahal village under the Kutra block of Sundargarh district. The couple is parents to a two-and-a-half-year-old boy. Under suspicious conditions, Naaz was found hanging inside her house. Her husband and in-laws later buried her body suspiciously.
Family members of the deceased alleged they were informed that she had become unconscious due to low blood pressure by her husband’s family. Suspecting her to be murdered by her husband and in-laws, the family members of the deceased lodged a complaint following which her body was exhumed.
“I received a call on 27th August at around 2:40 that my sister had fallen unconscious due to low blood pressure. They said they were taking her to the hospital. After 15-20 minutes, they once again called me and informed that she had passed away. They did not even inform my family members or relatives. We suspect it is a pre-planned murder,” alleged the victim’s brother Wasim Akram.
However, Manuwar refuted the murder charges and said, “I saw her hanging when I entered the room. Everything was well between us. We had gone to Bhubaneswar for our child’s treatment. This is not the first time, she had earlier also attempted suicide by jumping from the roof. I had also informed her family members about her behaviour.”
