A woman sustained gunshot wound while trying to rescue her 4-year-old daughter from kidnappers at Chaunra chhak under Bhadrak’s Basudevpur police limits on Friday.
The woman, identified as Jyotsnarani Sahu of Alanaga village under Basudevpur police limits, reportedly sustained injury on her hand while scuffling with the miscreants.
As per reports, Jyotsnarani was on her way to buy groceries with her 4-year-old daughter on Friday evening when two bike-born miscreants stopped her at Chaunra chhak and tried to snatch the child.
She fought back and resisted their attempts following which the miscreants fired shots at her and fled the scene.
Locals rushed the bleeding woman to Basudevpur hospital where she is currently undergoing treatment. Her daughter is said to be safe.
Speaking on the incident, Jyotsnarani said, “I was going to the nearest market for shopping when two miscreants attempted to take my daughter away. I snatched her back from them. Agitated by my resistance, they opened fire at me.”
Later, Basudevpur police reached the spot and launched a probe into the matter. Comments could be obtained from the police in connection with the matter.
