Police on Thursday arrested a woman and her lover on charges of killing her husband at Bomkei village under Digapahandi block in Ganjam district.

The deceased has been identified as Krushnachandra Behera of Bomkei village while the accused are Shankarshan Gouda and Sasmita.

According to police, Krushnachandra was missing since December 19. His body was found in a sack from Mankadadian rivulet near Gajapati Lanjia village yesterday.

During investigation, it came to light that it was a case of murder.

Shankarshan and Sasmita were colleagues during their college days and were in a relationship. However, nine months ago, Sasmita married Krushnachandra.

Later, Krushnachandra came to know all about his wife's relationship with Shankarshan and asked her to snap the ties with her lover. This led to Sasmita preparing a blueprint to eliminate Krushnachandra.

Sasmita and Shankarshan allegedly stabbed Krushnachandra to death and did away with evidence. They also put the body in a sack and threw it into the rivulet.

However, the police seized the knife used in the crime. A detailed probe is underway.
