Woman kills husband in Odisha, attempts to pass it off as suicide

In a horrifying incident, a woman brutally killed her husband and tried to pass it off as a case of suicide at Mundamarai village under Dharakote police limits in Ganjam district. The crime was fallout of a minor fight between the couple, reports said. The deceased has been identified as Amar Nayak. 

According to preliminary reports, the incident took place late Tuesday night when a heated argument broke out between Amar and his wife, Anjana Nayak. In a fit of rage, Anjana allegedly strangled Amar to death.

In an apparent effort to cover up the crime, the accused wife tried to present the murder as a case of suicide. However, discrepancies in the scene alerted locals, who informed the police.

A team from Dharakote police station reached the spot, recovered the body, and detained Anjana Nayak for interrogation. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events leading to the crime.

Local sources claim that the couple had frequent disputes, and tension within the household was growing for some time. Till the last report came in, police were examining the background of the relationship and speaking with family members and neighbours as part of the investigation.

Meanwhile, Dharakote police have assured that strict legal action will be taken based on the outcome of the probe.
