Woman kills father-in-law with axe in Odisha’s Dhenkanal

A woman allegedly hacked her father-in-law to death over some suspected feud at Kuturia village under Parjang police limits in Dhenkanal district.

The deceased has been identified as Benudhar Pradhan. The incident occurred at around 9 pm on Saturday night. As per initial reports, there was heated argument between the deceased and his daughter-in-law Yashoda over some trivial matter last night. Soon the arugment turned violent and both father-in-law and daughter-in-law attacked each other with an axe.

Benudhar died on the spot while Yashoda also sustained injuries in the attack. Yashoda has been admitted to the hospital and her condition is said to be stable.

“Due to some family dispute, the woman has hacked to death her father-in-law last night. A formal complaint is yet to be registered. The woman has been detained and undergoing treatment at the hospital,” said Prashant Patra, Inspector-In-Charge of Parjang police station.

According to Patra, the body has been kept at Parjang hospital and autopsy will be conducted soon.
