Woman hires contract killer to eliminate husband in Bhubaneswar

In a shocking incident, a woman along with her paramour allegedly hired a supari killer to eliminate her husband when the latter opposed their extra-marital affair. The matter came to the fore after the husband of the woman filed a complaint in this regard at Mancheswar police station in Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, the victim identified as Binayak Behera was working as a senior section engineer at Mancheswar Railway Workshop.  When Behera got transferred to Puri, his wife developed an extra-marital affair with his driver Ashok Kumar Sahoo, a native of Hatatota in Angul, sources informed.

After getting a whiff of the illicit affair, Behera confronted his wife which led to an altercation between the two. Finding no other option, Behera's wife hatched a plan to eliminate her husband. She hired a contract killer named Jitendra Kumar Pradhan to execute her plan.

As per the plan, Jitendra along with his aides attacked Behera with iron rods and plastic pipes when he was going on an evening walk near Sports Complex in Mancheswar on April 16. 

Though Behera sustained grievous injuries in the murderous attack, he somehow managed to escape from the clutches of the assailants and lodged a complaint with the Mancheswar police.

Acting on the complaint, police carried out raids on an apartment and arrested Ashok. Subsequently, the supari killer Jitendra was also nabbed by the police but Behera's wife is still at large.

Ashok reportedly confessed to his crime during questioning while efforts are on to arrest others involved in the crime, sources in the police said.
