Vigilance sleuths raid on assistant engineer’s properties in DA case 

The raids on the assistant engineer’s properties were conducted on the strength of the search warrants issued by the Special Judge of Sundargarh Vigilance Department.

The Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday carried out simultaneous raids at seven places linked to Sanjay Kumar Behera, an assistant engineer working with the Rural Works Division in Sundargarh district, on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. 

The raids on the assistant engineer’s properties were conducted on the strength of the search warrants issued by the Special Judge of Sundargarh Vigilance Department. 

The raids were carried out by four DSPs, four ASIs and other staff. At the time of the filing of this report, raids were underway on Behera’s properties in Sundargarh and Bhadrak districts. The total value of his moveable and immovable assets is yet to be ascertained. 

These are the locations being raided:

(1) Double storied residential building of Behera located at Bhadrak Town.

(2)  Residential house of Behera located at his native village Bonth in Bhadrak district.

(3)  Behera’s rented residential house located at Kenduapada under town police limits in Sundargarh district.

(4) Behera’s office chamber located inside office of the SE, RW Division, Sundargarh.

(5)  Residential house of Behera’s relative situated at Sindola village under Tihidi police limits in Bhadrak district. 

(6) Behera’s office chamber at the office of AE, RW Sub-Division at Lephripada where he was also in-charge of the office.

(7) Behera’s government quarter located at RW Office campus in Sundargarh district’s Lephripada.
